"My friend..."

    • "My friend..."

I was thinking about this today at work. How long does it take for you all to consider your ex's friends? As in, how long until instead of referring to them as "my ex" you refer to them as "my friend" assuming you stayed friends with them?

I was talking about how my ex from at least 5 years ago has a hole puncher for Sheetz cards, and I referred to her as "my friend".

To me, if I called my ex my friend instead of my ex, it's kind of like trying to ignore the whole fact that we ever dated, which is quite impossible for me to do. Maybe if you've dated like 20 people, they'd all just sort of converge as "friends," but I've only got 2 exes, so they'll always be separated from everyone else.
