Bands held in high regard that you dislike...

So yeah, what's some bands that are held in high regard that you just dont get all the hype about and why? :p

Personally, Metallica!
Think most of their stuff sounds the same, just dislike the stuff they play

Ride the Lightening is their only good album and I think they should have quit a while ago...
Same goes for AC/DC...

hmm... I can't really think right now... I don't get the hype around many songs that are in the top of the charts... everyone forgets about them after like 2 weeks..

I'm going to second Nirvana. My sister was really into Nirvana growing up and I listened to them because she listened to them. It was in my mid teens that I realized I really couldn't stand Nirvana. I don't see why they are considered to be these 90s rock demi-gods.

Only reason I think they're held in such high regard today is cause of the nostalgia factor, looking back to the 60's and all this, but I mean some of their stuff is just... not really good!
I like some songs, but I mean, I dont see what makes them stand out...

And someone said dragonforce, yeah, totally.
They just reuse old riffs in new songs, it's like a remix... by the same band... a bad remix.

I think the reason The Beatles have a lot of respect is because of the large impact they had on the music industry back in the 60s. Also, they have been known to be quite controversial (with some of their songs and an album cover). At the time, it was something completely new. I guess it just hasn't stood the test of time.
While I personally don't really like The Beatles, I have respect for what they did for the music industry. They basically shaped modern day rock.

Yeah, I understand the foundation they placed, but I dont think they placed that foundation very well

I guess it is just a "back in the day" sort of thing..
