Pyschology suggests it is actually a way to face reality. A way to help protect, support, and guide us. A safe haven, a safe place that ALL of us have, no religion or not. Its natural for a person to have a support system under them. For some, that is religion or a belief in a higher power. For others, that's a belief in their own strength and identity. -

I have no proof of the tooth fairy's and boogieman's existence so I don't believe they exist. The idea that we have to believe in everything whose existence isn't disproved is illogical and silly. Would you believe in Athena, Zeus, Krishna, Kama, Venus or Cupid just because no one has proved they don't exist?
Every action in out immediate universe needs some pre-cursor to it. There is nothing that happens from the divine which is a good evidence that God doesn't/can't exist. A brutal dictator can come of to power, a nation of idiots can bully weak countries, unless the people realise there is no God and fight back - nothing, absolutely nothing can help them.
When USSR governments created 22000 nukes, they did this because they know there will be no God helping those who can't make their own things to help themselves. Today there is no God which can save America from extinction if it dares a war with Russia.
The person in question was under the impression there was evidence that a god/God doesn't exist, and partially because of that, she doesn't believe in a higher power. However, the person is assuming this evidence was logical, or even existed, because they couldn't remember anything about it.
That was what I was getting at.Sasha Vassily wrote:
That is because Science theorises something only after facts back it up. It does not rely on faith like religious beliefs, which often get disproved by scientific findings. Moreover, the concept of before is relative to the concept of time, how do you explain 'before' if there is no time?

i'm not saying either theory is correct i just choose to belive the science one more because it makes more sense to me
Notes on Readings for Introduction to Knowledge and Reality scroll down to Willaim Paley "the osmic watchmaker" for the watch theory you didn't know about.
The retalliation to this entire argument is on the same page. -

Just curious here, did you actually read this, or find this on the internet and act as though it meant something?

Damn-it! The Oklahoman is coming out of me.
What's an apostrofi? -
Yes I do believe in God. The chances that the earth would have been formed by the big bang are so statistical small it is unreasonable to think that we do not have a creator.
I personally believe in the Christian God however there is no way I can prove that to anyone other than just trusting St. Paul or other early Christians and what they wrote. -

1. Learn statistics. You can infer absolutely NOTHING from a single trial (the earth coming into existence)
2. Why can't you trust what Buddha wrote? Oh, I know, because St. Paul said not too... (I hope you can extrapolate from here) -

No I do not. We have the fossils, we win. End of story.

Well I do, and I don't, at the same time.
I DO:
- I was brought up believing in God, to a Roman Catholic family.
I DON'T:
- I find it hard to believe that one "being" is almighty.

The universe can't exist on the principles of Physics because it needs a creator. So how on earth a creator can exist without needing another creator? The possibility of big bang from the present observations is much higher than a Christian god saying 'Be!' and the universe coming into existence. As for trust in Buddha, well religion is a form of bigotry, one that spawns racism, hatred and violence in different forms. Christianity is the biggest example, followed by Islam and then Judaism.
