A year ago I returned from what was probably the most amazing year in my life. It was a new country, a fresh start, new friends, and I enjoyed every moment.
I was never that popular here at home, so the sabbatical was a welcome change. I made better friends than any that I had here, and I felt like I belonged, which I had never felt in my life.
And then I had to go back, when I returned, I saw that things are better than they used to be in terms of the people here (they just seem to be nicer), but I still can't stand the politics and close-mindedness of everyone. In addition, after the friends I had on my sabbatical, I just can't find my place with my friends here.
I met some new people who I seem to interact better with over here, but they don't attend my school and we only meet once a week.

I want advice from people who have had this problem of being unable to return from a sabbatical.
