Yeah. America doesn't have enough problems on its own soil, so lets go look elsewhere and point fingers.

Not all Muslims are violent radicals.

Actually, the Muslim community is coming down quite hard on the people who have been participating in violent demonstrations.

Muslims aren't bad, THOSE PEOPLE ARE BAD.

So stop being a faggot Ziggs.

I think we should withdraw all of our troops from the middle East and let them sort their own shit out. Let me kill each other for all I care.

I'm british, and it seems like as least once a fortnight a british soldier gets killed by a roadside bomb or a muslim dressed in police uniform. Makes me so angry, especially as I have a good friend now in the army.
    • Re: Anti-American Protests: Muslims

What are you trying to prove by getting angry? Surely the noble thing to do would be to accept them? This way, if a terrorist does harm a civilian, and no big deal is made out of it, then he is not getting the attention he requires, and is not fueled for to create more terror.

To the contrary I find that Arabic allows a form of expressionism not present in many modern languages. The only reason that stuff looks like scribbles is because you cannot read it. The same person who cannot read English would say the same thing about English. It doesn't make his or your opinion right or wrong.

You make a very good point, you have been forced to be believe 'you must be nice to them', this is much like a parent saying 'Your cousins are coming round, and you must be nice to *so and so*...' and quite the opposite happens because you are contradictory by your very being.

Until you realize this is all a hoax you're going to get very worked up and eventually end up doing something you will regret.

      EDIT:

Quite rightly so. But, I'm intrigued, why is it you juxtaposed civilians rioting with pictures of half naked females wielding an American flag? No one is forced to embrace America with open arms, and you trying to force it is like trying to convince your heart not to beat. You should embrace their criticism. And, perhaps learn from it. Might I add, one of them looks to be of Arabic decent.

a better debate topic is, should the guy who made the movie be held accountable, or somewhat responsible for the actions that happened?

my response: he should be. Freedom of speech is not without limits. not here, not anywhere

It was a stupid movie...I couldn't even get through the 10 or 15 minute preview...I actually don't think the movie had anything to do with it...the riots started on the 11th, so I'm with a lot of people and believe it's just another anti American protest on the 11th anniversary of 9/11. Some French cartoonist just released a cartoon of Mohamed, naked...no protests against France, not like the anti American protests anyway.

Furthermore, it's a free country, you can make a movie about anything you want, and you shouldn't have to worry about what a bunch of foreign primitive religious nuts think about it. Of you want to punish this guy, then you'll have to punish tv show creators like those of South Park and Family Guy for "insultin" religions...should we also outlaw drawing Mohamed? Should we outlaw religious insults of any kind? Where is the line drawn?

What is more important to us? The freedom to speak your mind, no matter how offensive, or the feelings of a bunch of foreign superstitious radicals?

More over, who draws the line? I think these problems will never cease to be blown out of proportion entirely until people realize that death isn't a condemnation, but rather a liberation of self.

Both parties are responsible, one cannot effectively claim they are not religious because what they are doing is defining themselves against a particular group of people, therefore creating another group of people, with precisely similar ideals to the ones they were defining themselves against!

You seem to think the 1st Amendment is absolute. "but we live in a free country!" is being simple minded. Hate to break it to you but we don't really live in a free country, although we do have it better than other countries. (Still doesn't make freedom of speech absolute)

I understand that we shouldn't give in to the radicals, but it was the U.S. Supreme Court who actually drew that line once between speech that serves a purpose and speech "which is claimed to serve no conceivable useful purpose and is extremely and imminently dangerous". The latter, they said, should be limited by government.

I read an article that said that one of the directors of the movie (not the one that went into hiding) told the other guy that he was gonna get killed for making this movie. they knew they were gonna rile up the Muslim community. Why do you think the director used a fake identity and went into hiding?

I also don't disagree that the protests go deeper than just the production of this movie, but he created this movie with the intent to incite muslims

So, does that mean that any time some group of people starts killing other people because we they are "offended", should we outlaw the offensive action? I can understand criminalizing the action of screaming fire in a crouded theatre, because people have reason to be scared, and it will create a panic situation, and people can get hurt. However, criminalizing the creation of a movie simply because a bunch a FOREIGNERS choose to become offended is ridiculous.

Where does it end? Muslims are against porn, should we ban porn? What about SSM? Should that be indefinitally banned? What about any criticism of Islam in general? Should that be illegal? See what I mean? Where does it end?

Again, just because a bunch of primitive third world foreigners choose to be offended, doesn't mean we should ban it. I am personally disgusted that one of our own citizens, an ambassador, was killed and what is our response? A fucking apology! Instead of striking back, and letting these vile creatures know that such actions will never be tolerated, what we are doing is letting them know that if they bitch and kill enough, they can get their way, even though they aren't even citizens!

And if you do criminalize the depicting of Mohamed, will all religious mockery be banned? Will I be criminalized if I insult Christianity? Judaism? The flying spaghetti monster? What if I was a pastafarian (Flying spaghetti monster worshipper) and I started killing people and rioting because people mock that religious belief? Will it be banned? No! I would be arrested! So why are we caving in to these vile, disgusting monsters and not fighting back! Instead of siding with these animals, why not side with our own fellow citizen, no matter how crazy and delusional he is?

And again, this movie had little if anything to do with it. These riots are due to their hate for America. No surprise there. But we should not limit our right to freely speak our mind, no matter how offensive.

As a member of the religion most if not all the Muslim radicalists hate I must give my two cents.
      1. Not all muslims are radicalists.
      2. These radicalists have made many threats to my religion before. Two years ago on New Years during a church service in Egypt radicalists killed 21 people and injured 100+ by setting a bomb off outside the church. My aunt and her family were one row away from being killed had it not been for them going earlier then usual. Also the week after here in the US we had to have our services under the watch and guard of the Massachusetts State Police and other Massachusetts law enforcement. Basically they're just hyped on themselves. But go back and look at my first point again.
    • Re: Anti-American Protests: Muslims

Evan, you're missing the bigger picture.

Fact of the matter is an intentionally offensive movie was made.
Thats not protected by the constitution bro.

      Its a slanderous movie actually.
It was meant to incite anti-american feelings/ start the islam hate train.

Its really just a matter of being responsible.
For example, no ones going to stop me from taking a shit in my pants.
But I know that once I take that shit, it will affect the people around me.
"But its in my pants, I can do what I want in my pants, rright??"
Sure you can, but you should be responsible and conscious enough to know other people will smell it.

The movie is shit, america is the pants. And every other country is a person who has to smell it.

Job well done to the directors and producers.
      5 relatively innocent people dead.

      Hope everyones proud.

How often do you hang around Muslims?

      Its the opposite.

You know why its difficult to find non-radical muslims?

Because we're too busy in our houses practicing our religion :)

Offensive speech is in fact protected by the constitution, bro. Why don't we ban South Park or Family Guy? Because the people who are offended by those shows are mature enough to turn the TV off and not kill anyone over the shows. Unlike these savages, most of who, I will say it again, were protesting for reasons other than the movie.

Oh, and taking a dump in your pants is perfectly legal, by the way. And one more thing, it was the radical muslims who killed the innocent people. Not the directors. Blaming them is incredibly stupid and naive. These islamic facists are grown human beings and know exactly what they are doing, and are on top of that foreigners and do not in anyway dictate our laws. If we start making exceptions now, it will never stop. You have to realize this.
