So my brother did something really stupid and I covered for him but now I'm in trouble. It wasn't something small and now I'm grounded for like the next year, if they do what they say they are going to I will no longer be online (other than school stuff) and I will not have a life for the next year. Should I tell the truth or just deal with whatever punishment is going to be dealt me? BTW, bro is definitely not gonna come clean so that's another issue.
Ever covered for your sibling?

This is kind of a difficult situation that you have gotten yourself into. If you tell your parents the truth, they will think you are only trying to cover your own ass and your brother will think you are a traitor. I guess if it were me (thank god I'm an only child) I would have to stick to my original story, either way you will be in trouble for the act or the lying.
-
It's very difficult to say what's best for your situation. What was the big issue with your brother, anyway? If you think it isn't fair that you will be grounded for a year with what your brother had done then I think you should come clean. It's not your fault, anyway.

Come clean the truth will set you free. Good Luck!

Never covered for my siblings nor they did for me. We seem to have a mutual understanding, albeit unspoken, that we have to face the consequences of our stupid actions.love much, laugh often, live well

yer me and my brother are really close and pretty much no everything about each other. i am glad it is like this though. I knew my brother was smoking weed for 3 years and my mum didn't have a clue. When his eyes were red he convinced her he had eye ache and hayfever :p

LOL. That's great. I have not covered for my sibling and he hasn't for me. It has always been a case of our parents assuming (rightly) who did what and we dealt with our punishment from there. Given the chance, I do not think I would have covered for him or vice versa.

I did cover for my sibling but that was over a very minor issue. But when she did something really terrible, I did not cover for her anymore. It’s her time to face it and take responsibility for it. Or else she might never learn.

u have 2 cover for ure bro or sis thats wat family is meant to do specially 2 parents
-
Yeah I covered for my sister, it's not worth it! Just let them make their own mistakes, don't aide or hinder it.

I don't have anybody to cover
I am the smallest kid at home. (Kid among others lol)
I have only been uncovered, I mean never been covered but only been dragged to face consequences by my sisters even when whatever I did wasnt that big problem, hope you understand.. -
I think you should have a talk with ur parents ... or with ur bro... hopethings will get better...
-
all that time...err....i dont' 4 real bad tings!
-
I'm the oldest so yeah when something happens i cover for them but not for everything. It is what older sisters or brothers are suppose to do. all though they need to get in trouble on their own.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

The truth shall set you free!
Better sacrifice for the truth than suffer behind a great lie!
I also suggest you tell your parents that a military school for boys is the perfect career for that brother of yours. That will teach him discipline and a sense of responsibility. -
-
Yeah I have covered for him, over reeally little things... 'Cause he's never done anything bad lol.
With your brother, he/you should tell your parents. It's not fair for you to sufferWhen you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot and hold on. -
Yep,, i have covered for my little bro all the time, and even got into fights over something he did, but its nothin to me, I'll always be there for him no matter how much he gets on my nerves. Its all about the love for your family. I mean he could one day wake up and tell me he hated me, and i'll still cover for him. I'd rather get myself hurt, then to see my brother get hurt first. i'd take a bullet for him.Chevrolet PRIDE!..
