It's not. We do tend to speak like our peers rather than our parents. Because I have no accent, sometimes people are surprised that my parents both have European accents. I'm so used to that I would never have trouble understanding them, but some of my friends do when they come over.

Québécois here! My mom grew up 100% Francophone, so I speak French at home + it's the language for school and just life I'm general. My dad grew up bilingual English/French since my grandfather is English Canadian so I speak English at home as well!

I'm pretty sure they're not. Like my mum has friends around and they talk and have a laugh but they never hug or kiss each other - at least not in front of me.

We speak both English and French

We speak at least 3 different languages in our house. English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Everyone is fluent in all 3 so our conversations can start in English and end in Chinese... -
My mum is English and she speaks that with me and my siblings at home
My dad is Dutch and my parents speak Dutch to each other -
At home, we speak Dutch (a strange mix of brabants and algemeen-nederlands dialects), but with English mixed in sometimes. (Everyone in this country speaks English). We have to be conversational in a 3rd language for college (high school???) so I speak Spanish, my little brother speaks German. Mum speaks German also, and Dad speaks French (his parents are Flemish, speak vlaams-nederlands and french). So sometimes we play with languages, but generally it is mostly Dutch with some English. Cursing in English is not really cursing, so that in particular is usually in English.

I have Latino origins and even though my parents are both white Americans (long story about a sperm back screw up), they still raised me learning Spanish as a second language. When I was a baby and after they learned where my genes came from, they both took classes to learn so that when I was learning to talk they would be able to teach me the language of my origin. They are really awesome like that.

Both my parents are French so im bilingual in french and English. My school is in english so i speak english there with my friends but at home i have to speak french. My parents are scared that im going to lose my french because i dont practise it, so they force me to speak french at home and if i dont they completely ignore me and pretend that they dont understand what im saying to them.

Merde. C'est presque du chantage.
