Ever try Viagra or convenience store stay hard pills?

    • Severe side effects are rare. According to NBC News, rough statistics from the FDA’s adverse event reporting system (AERS) regarding the erectile dysfunction (ED) drugs Viagra, Cialis and Levitra show a total of just 93 cases of prolonged erection greater than four hours or painful erection greater than six hours (priapism) in all of 2007 — 74 for Viagra, three for Levitra and 16 for Cialis. According to the FDA, physicians are encouraged to report suspected adverse events, although the event may be related to an underlying disease, another drug or simple chance. Furthermore, “The [Food and Drug Administration] requires a warning in the package insert because of the potential complication, but I’ve been prescribing Viagra for 10 years to many thousands of men and have never seen a case,” says Dr. Ira Sharlip, who maintains a private urology practice in San Francisco. “It does happen even in men who aren’t taking erection drugs – I’ve taken care of the problem at the emergency room at the medical center where I work — but it’s really rare. So rare, that I don’t discuss this as a potential complication with my patients.” “If an erection is left in place for more than TWELVE hours, damage to the tissue in the erection chambers can occur,” says Sharlip. “It can be a cause of serious erectile dysfunction. They may be able to get a partial erection in the future, but not a full erection.”

      So IF I ever take Viagra or similar I will definitely go to the doctor IF I'm one of the 74 dudes who gets a 4-hour hard on, and have him take care of it before the 12-hour erection causes repairable damage.

      I mean I PROBABLY won't take it, but I do drink alcohol and use recreational drugs like many kids and adults despite not needing them, so its definitely possible that I'll someday take a prescribed drug to enhance recreational sex before I need to cuz of limp dick.

      Ive heard up to 4 hours. But that 4 hours in unusual. And that if it lasts over 4 hours, to see a doctor.

      That can be achieved with foreplay, don't need a drug to keep you erect unless there is a physical reason you can't get hard. If you're alone you can always edge to stay hard and prolong your orgasm

      Yes, I completely agree.

      I think the difference between staying hard due to continued stimulation, either physical or mental, and Viagra is that when using stimulation just how hard it is can vary whereas with the drug you're stuck with it like that.

      The problem with being fully hard for four hours is that there is no blood flow through the penis. The tissues on the inside of the penis don't need much oxygen but they do need some. If the blood in there is stagnant they will eventually use up all that oxygen and start to die. How long that takes may vary a little from one person to another.

      If you are erect naturally, you probably won't be at maximum hardness for a whole four hours. Even going back to semi-hard at some point during that session will allow some movement of the blood and therefore some fresh oxygen into the penis.

      Think of how, if you sit so pressure is placed on a vein, one of your limbs or some part of a limb can "go to sleep" such that`s numb or won't work but, if you take the pressure off, it only takes a few seconds for things to return to normal. It's the same thing going on.

      Then bear in mind a quick wank is sufficient to deal with being horny. If you decide to make it last longer, or if you do something with someone else, it's presumably because you want t really enjoy it and all the time you receive stimulation prior to orgasm is part of the pleasure. Yes, of course the orgasm is the best bit but so is stroking, touching yourself, being touched and touching a partner.

      I think it doesn’t really reduce the amount of time it takes to cum, rather it causes you to stay hard when normally you go soft right after cumming, and need time to recover before getting hard again. At least that’s how I understand it but I could be wrong

    • Where this may be a help for going for a second round is when having sex and an erection is necessary to get it in and time does not permit waiting until the refractory period is over. Masturbation isslighly easier when hard but doesn't need an erection. There was a thread about whether it was possible to cum while soft and it is. The refractory period is usually measured from the end of cumming to being able to get hard again so i don't know if there are any surveys on how soon guys can cum again when either they don't bother with getting hard or staying hard is helped by viagra.

      There is there general thing that is seems to take less stimulation the longer it has been since your last cum so it would definitely take more if you want to cum again very soon. This has even been incorportated into advice for guys concerned about cumming too fast during sex that they masturbate some period before hand so it takes them longer to cum during the sex. Of course, if you have long enough with your partner and are not worried about being judged, an alternative is to accept that the first time will be quick and then spend the refractory period doing something else to pleasure your partner, for example kissing, cuddling, if it's a girl even getting her to orgasm with fingers/mouth if she didn'r orgasm during the first round of sex then, when you;re hard, again, go for round two when you'll last longer.
