... has abandoned the hardcore gamer. I'm sure someone has made a thread about this before, but I need to get this out:
When the Wii first came out, it had the potential to save Nintendo's reputation among gamers. The motion sensitivity would take FPS gaming to a whole new level, as well as racing, swordfighting, and more. It had some promising launch titles like Zelda, Red Steel, and Excite Truck. It looked like Nintendo would no longer be called the "kiddie game" company and instead be truly respected like the Xbox or Playstation franchises.
But now Nintendo has shot that all to hell. They realized that they could make more money by appealing to casual gamers, families, and old people who would get the wii solely for Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Music, etc. Sure, those games are fun (sort of) and sure, third party companies continued to make respectable games for it, but when's the last time Nintendo advertised a Wii-exclusive game that would appeal to anyone who owned a last-gen console? SSBB? If they have, I haven't seen it. In fact, the only good (and by good I mean not aimed at 9-year-olds) game coming out for Wii that I know of is The Conduit, which will probably be the last Wii game I buy, in addition to maybe some WiiWare games.
Needless to say, I'm disapointed in Nintendo. I thought they were better than this. I now hope to get an Xbox 360 soon, either for Christmas or with my own money.
