The Guide About Everything

    • The Guide About Everything

This is just like Mattster's computer guide, where we, everyone/anyone, contributes advice or little interesting tidbits about life in general.

The advice doesn't seed to be extremely profound, but refrain from posting trollbaits and just really inappropriate things.

Some of these might seem really obvious, and are a part of common sense, or maybe even stupid, but still post them as some people might not know some of them.

There's a website : The Guide to Everything that has a similar name which has examples of advice and guides i'm talking about.

Let's get into a collective effort.

      --------------------

So this is the guide about everything.; Life, social, hygiene, school, internet, sex, everything. Maybe refrain from posting computer stuff because there's another thread specifically for that.

      I'll start with a few :

-When you're passing a sharp object (knife, scissors, blades, etc) to another person, hold it by the sharp end. Give it to them with the handle side out. This lessens the chance of someone getting hurt. Take care in handling it on your end though.
-Thrift stores usually have brand new brand item articles on there. You just have to look for it. Also, it's a good place to find vintage and obscure clothes that are cheap and look great.
-Read books. Just read, especially if you're not that great in english or whatever language. It really helps your spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and everything really.
-If you want to be in good terms with your teacher/proffessor, find a common thing that interests you both and have a discussion.
-Licking dry/chapped lips will just make them dryer. Carry lipbalm.
-When applying bodyspray, just spray it in front of you and walk into the mist. Also, apply it on your body and not on your clothes.
-Stop waiting for people to come talk to you. If you really want to have a chat, initiate the conversation.
-On a related note, if you're having trouble talking to people you know, talk to strangers. Yep. People who you know you wouldn't see that much, or ever. People from the library, the bus stop, are perfect candidates for this. Just get into small talk to help you open more to people in general.

As much as Hollywood likes to show that pulling people out of car crashes makes them a hero and is the right thing to do, it isn’t and it’s a stupid thing to do, hence below.

One wrong twist or pull could paralyse someone for life. If the neck or back is broken, improper movement can damage the spinal cord and disable or kill the person and a broken bone may lacerate a artery (aka the bone cuts it open).

Unless it’s a matter of life and death, there is no pulse and CPR is needed, or the vehicle is going to catch on fire (doesn’t happen much), do NOT pull them out of the car.

You may be a Senior First Aider or the fooking King of Scotland, but you do not have the proper training to make the call to pull a injured person out of a vehicles. Wait for the Paramedics or Fire Department who may need to employ the Jaws of Life just to get them out anyways.

While waiting with a injured person(s) in a vehicle, whenever its upside down, on its side, or normal, ensure that their airway is clear at all time. This must be done if the injured person(s) are unconscious because if their head for example is slumped forward, there is a good chance that their airway is blocked. Simply lift their chin or hold on to their head and keep it raised and normal to prevent airway blockage.

-Drinking the recommended amount of water per day (8 glasses) can help you lose weight.
-Always wash colored, esp black, articles of clothing in cold water to avoid fading. Also, if you hang your clothes to dry, turn them inside out so the sun won't fade the color on the outside.
-Never dry shave, as it produces razor bumps. Always try to use shaving cream, or hot water at least to open up the pores.
-Put a small item like a paperclip at the end of sticky/scotch tape so you don't have to fiddle around the thing trying to find the end.
-Don't trim your toenails into semicircles like you do with your fingernails. The toenails are more brittle, and you can end up having ingrown toenails if you do that.
