Hi I'm not your average girl.. I've been through a few traumatic experiences that have led me to getting Obssesive Compulsive Disorder.. I get very compulsive negative thoughts and I was just wonderring if anyone is going throught the same thing (OCD ) even if you experience it in different ways. Its not really something you get rid of but it is controllable and Im at the point where it needs to be controled before it continues to interfere with my social life as well as other aspects of my otherwise "normal" life.:p
Obsession

hey. i'm sad to hear you're going throuh tthis. I have ocd too it really stresses me out because i constantly get compulsive thoughts like that too.
f you wanna chat i'll happily listen. -
What Did yours come from?
-
To be honest im not really sure. I think i had small ocd symptoms as a kid, but then it became depressing. It just started over a year ago, i'm not really sure why. It started not long after i lost my mom, but i'm not sure whether that would be one of the reasons.
-
That would be a very probable reason, I read that it can stem from one or more traumatic experiences and ocd is a way of somewhat masking the trauma so to speak...was it a sudden loss? If I may ask?
-
You may be right. I've never really learned much about what causes OCD to start. A lot of it with me has been from childhood and hasn't been realized till now but i guess you could be right about this, as it has worsened since i reached my teens.
Hmm well she was ill for months, infact years but we thought she would gradually recover from it. But, oneday my dad came in and oneday said she wont, so i guess i could say it did hit on me suddenly as it was only weeks before the death that we knew it was terminal.
Not to sound rude, but are your experiences similar?
I never really thought about that till just actually..
It makes sense to me now though that a traumatizing event could have some association.

Well mine began to spike when my granfather died a couple of years ago because before then I had never really had that close of an interaction with death and its affects you know?
-
Oh =[
So you're in a very similar position then.
Yeah, that definitely makes sense.
Do you take meds for yours? -
No but I have seen a psychologist but its one of those didorders that alot of people dont beleive until they can see it because it doesnt really manifest itself in visible ways u know?
-
I kinda get what you mean and that's true.
I hope the help is working, it sure is for me.
These disorders can be so confusing can't they:p -
Yes They Can Lol

I hate it when a thought enters your mind and goes round in your mind, repetively.
Especially when you really can't shift it:p -
I just have problems like checking to make sure the door is locked or checking the house to see if anyone broke in. I dunno, I check things a lot. When I get the feeling to check I HAVE to check or else I freak out. Like I'll be about to fall asleep and I feel like I have to check the room to make sure no one's in it. If I try to ignore the feeling to check I start to fall apart and when I finally check I'm almost panicking and expecting to see someone.
I dunno if it's ocd.[SIZE=4][SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
