I've heard a lot of decussion on drafting people for the Iraq war. Some are for it and others are against it. Even though i live in Canada, it's pretty much the U.S suck up and if the U.S does follow up with drafting then Canada won't be far behind. So do you think it's going to happen or are they going to reconsider?
Drafting

I, personally, am against it.
I support our troops now, much a surge of man/woman power isn't going to help.
We've been there too long.I'm back bitches. -
whats drafting?

I'm for whatever choice is going to keep me safe.

When the army doesn't get enough people they start choosing a certain people to fight whether they like it or not. -
against it...it should be a matter of personal choice

oh i didnt know it was called that.
anyway im against it, ithink people should be able to choose if they want to join, they shouldnt be forced. -
I'm against it. I support our troops & all, but I don't want to get dragged over to some shithole country in the middle of the desert to fight for some people I don't give a shit about. If someone want's to go over there & die for those people, fine, see if I care, it's their choice, just dont try to drag me into it.

I am against drafting.
My Government teacher was drafted when he was in college. Plus a few people I really care about coupld possibly be drafted and I couldn't bear them choosing to go into the military.I'm here, Karla. :] -
America doesn't need it right now. If were that stretched then they can call up some of the 1.5 million other reserves. That is of course after they call up the 1.something million other regular military men/women.

I don't think a draft is necessary. Well, the last time America intiated a draft, in Vietnam, it didn't go well to say the least. So, I don't think that we need a draft if we've already got more than willing participants to begin with. As many people have died, there are still a lot of people alive and ready. When you think about it, in WWII more people were killed in a day than in this whole war with Iraq, and the US was only involved in WWII for 4 years.

I don't agree with drafting, i'm signing up anyway but thats my choice and i don't believe anyone should be unwillingly put through the tragic events of war. The US army has plenty of regular military people still in the US and even more in reserves so drafting isn't even necessary.

against it.
people shouldn't be dragged into something they don't wanna do. -
Totally fucking against it. If I'm ever drafted, I'm not going. Even if that means death. I'm not going to fight for jack shit unless I believe in the cause. And America never has a good reason to be killing millions of people, so that's not an option.
I will die for myself, not my country.Signature Removed. -

It's really called conscription............
Freedom is a privilege not a right....sometimes you have to work for that privilege. It's a necessary evil -

Which is why "freedom" and a whole bunch of other shit are specifically labeled as "RIGHTS" in the constitution?Signature Removed. -
Ok forget what i said last time, it's unlikely that drafting is going to happen. I was talking to the Army careers guy this morning and he told me the forces are oversubscribed, they don't need more people so starting drafting would be completley pointless. Although were it necessary, i'm still against it.
