Prom

You could go with friends. That's what I did at least and I had a blast. I went when I was in grade 11 tho cuz most of them are a year older than me. You dot wanna not go and then regret it. That's how I see thing in life. Don't miss any opportunity. You only get to go to prom once (or twice if u've got older friends):p

Well everyone in 11th is going this year because the juniors always pay for and plan senior prom. This year is suppose to be the best and next year is gonna suck. But yea, one of my classes was talking about it today and apparently it's stupid for people to just go with friends. I don't want to be one of those stupid people. Plus, my mom is going to want pictures of me and my "date". FML
    • i find myself going in may with my sisters friend cause she needed a date not some dude who would try to fuck her the whole night. so im having second thoughts about it but still its bound to be fun. booze up before prom. hit up the after party and then beach next day.

    • I went to my "Prom".
I say prom, but I called it a "Ball" to beat the Americanisation that seems to be gripping the country. Anyrate... I didn't have a date for mine, but that didn't stop me havin a good time. =]
Food + Drink + Being dragged onto the dancefloor by anyone and everyone = Fantastic night.

    • AT my school it wasn't called a prom, (not from America) it was called the Year 12 Formal. They make a pretty big deal out of it though, It was held at the Grand Ball Room at the Casino with the whole cars up to the foyer door thing, most of em are like this though.

Anyways... do you have a close female friend. Me and one of my best friends went as 'partners' among a large group of friends, It was fantastic and awesomely fun. Plus our formal was literally the last thing any of us could do with the school so it was a massive farewell. Trust me you don' want to miss out on it.

    • Hmm...to solve the "date" pictures you could just get one of your friends that's a girl to pretend to be your date. I dunno if that'd work or not but it's better than nothing. Just get ur mom to drop you off at her house and then you can get your pictures and she can do the whole "oh my boy is so growed up! Aww!" stuff and you can go from there.

If all else fails figure out were the after party is and just go to that. That's where all the real fun happens anyways ;)
    • I went to my junior prom and had a blast. I am not going to my senior prom though for a bunches of different reasons haha. But yeah I'd go if I were you. :) Who cares if its girls grinding on you its fun haha. Well, I love dancing idk about you. But you should go its an experience. :D

    • my friend, who is also gay, went with this girl i kinda know, she never found a date and was realllly sad about it... nobody but her and a few others knew he was gay.. and hes reallllly fucking hot, so yeah... he went with her... and the look on peoples faces was apparently priceless.
personally i will probably do something like that, because the prom is incredibly overrated. we shall see though, if i change schools and manage to find one that i wouldn't get like stabbed in for going with another guy, i might change my mind.

you should do something like that.. find a girl who's a close friend whos a little pissed off about not having a date. you you could then go with her and your mum would back off. just go and take the oppurtunity for the night.

    • I'm in Form III currently, so it does not really count for me considering the Matric Dance (or Prom as you call it) is only in two years time. But giving it a lot of thought, I don't want to go either. I hate social events, I would rather sit at home and watch Prison Break (or play Tomb Raider II :D). And considering my ever-so-wonderful (and deceitful) school is so homophobic, I can't take who I want to without flying out the closet and getting killed in the process.
But meh, I will have to see. But that is me, what is important is you.

I can not tell you what to do, you have to decide for yourself what you want to do. Here are your options:

      1. Do not go to the Prom. Simply say that you do not feel like going, period. It is your choice, nobody else's.

      2. You do go to the Prom, but alone. You may as well have chosen option 1, because you are going to be miserable (unless you go just to hang out with some friends).

      3. You go to the Prom with a girl as your date. This is your safest option if you do go. Just go with one of your girl-friends. Or ask somebody like a cousin who is willing to go with you (that is what my sister did). But as you said, your mom will want pictures. So this is a little problem. But again, this is where you can exercise your right to do as you choose.

      4. You go to the Prom with another guy. Well, I would not consider it, because as you said in other posts, the people in your school are quite homophobic. This would require that you come out the closet, and well, I doubt you are ready for that kind of stress. So yeah, I won't suggest it.

So really, I can not say what you should do, I just listed your options for you. Personally, I would just go with a friend (that is not from the same school). It gets people off your back, and you can leave if you start to feel irritated or depressed.
