the chicken or the egg?
which came first:

Definitely the chicken. Evolution caused the chicken to be made slowly through the ages, and then the egg came out of the chicken.
By the way...what a weird question...

can we make the logical assumption that neither came first and that it was a trick question?

I'm with you. -
Big Bang, actually.

LGod didn't put the chicken, or the egg or any organism. He created matter. Big bang -> earth-> microbiotic organisms-> military celled species-> complex organisms-> monkey-> … -> … -> …-> Homo sapiens.
Btw, by evolution, it would be the chicken becuz the chicken (as we know it today) would have adapted its qualities as a full grown bird struggling for survival, not in the egg.

FISH lay eggs. Fish were some of the first vertebrates to exist. They existed before things even ventured onto land. Ergo, the (fish) egg came before the chicken.

A generational ancestor wouldn't suddenly realize that DNA mutation would ensure further procreation and decide to become a chicken; for the species to evolve, the DNA mutation would have happened in utero, or for chickens, as an egg. The qualities that the ancestors refined for survival do not constitute a species change.
true but the chicken would have obtained physical adaptations before the genes mutated through reproduction and the egg. ergo, the chicken came first becuz the fully grown bird that could now(after the adaptation) be identified as a chicken existed before it reproduced.
ByTor190, just y? we are obviously talking about chickens and chicken eggs, not fish. -
obviously the egg.. the egg came from an animal very similar to the chicken and mutations inside it made it become the chicken we know..
thou there were a lot of eggs even before there were chickens, chickens aren't the first species to lay eggs -

Didn't they find that chickens are related to dinosaurs? I thought I read that somewhere...
Therefore the answer is neither, the dinosaur did -
The kind of egg is not specified, so the egg, clearly.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

But dinasaurs come out of an egg so therefore, The egg came first even before the dinasaur

who said you laid eggs?
and if the dino egg came first, who laid that dino egg?
And either way, the chicken came from the t-rex. Not all dinosaurs in general. So it is now, what came first, the t-rex or the egg?"Adapt and Overcome"
