I'm dating a fellow who smokes. I have a strong distaste towards smoking. My grandfather died from lung cancer, and I most definitely do not smoke. I haven't asked him to quit, just as long as he doesn't light up when we're together. To me, it's a kind of respect thing. If he lights up when he's with the boys, that's fine. Join clubs. Usually people in clubs you join have the same interests as you, so you already have a common ground to start a conversation with. Plus in clubs you're more likely to interact with the people around you. Just be friendly, smile when you make eye contact with people. Don't act like a hermit.
