My biggest advice:never end the day angry at each other always look for someway to just be happy or to put the argument behind you guys. Apologize not because you're sorry but because you care about the relationship more than your pride.

some people that are together just dont last, there can be endless reasons why, but i feel if two people love each other and show it everyday along with trust for each other then thats half the battle. but as said, there is no one recipe to make a relationship last until you are old and grey having fun and to not take their partner for granted then i think any couple can last if they put enough energy into it

Love, trust, someone who is your best friend. You need to be able to hold a conversation if you're going to stay together forever. Someone you find attractive. Commitment to each other.

If you ask me, ignorance and neediness.

If I had to say "Love her/him everyday like the first time you met them". but that won't cut it. Always remember that this is the same person with whom you fell in love, who made you feel special, who was there with you in thick and thin and for whom you mean the world.

Re: What does it take to make a relationship last forever?
The most important thing is to keep things exciting. I'm 3.5 years in with my girlfriend so I know a little bit. You have to keep things from getting boring and repetitive. You also have to realize that love isn't about feeling head over heels for someone, because that can wear off pretty fast. Love is about having a best friend who is there for you and would do anything for you, knowing you can always trust them and that no matter what they're in your corner. If you get bored in a relationship, don't end it.. change things up. Surprises are the best part of life and thats why relationships need them. If you don't know how to keep things exciting, try finding new hobbies together or trying something new. And if your 18 or older, always keep the sex life strong.

You can love, trust, and blablabla someone all you want. It won't affect your compatibility to spend or live the rest of your life with them. Something simply has to click.
Re: What does it take to make a relationship last forever?
Im not sure about forever but, being able to have trust and honesty is a huge thing. If you cant trust your significant other...theres almost no point to be in a relationship. Being open and working through arguments or conflicts together. Making time for each other and making a commitment to each other about giving equal amounts of effort to the relationship and seeing it through.
Re: What does it take to make a relationship last forever?
There are a lot of factors needed to make a relationship successful.
You have to be able to love not only your partner, but love yourself, and you can't love someone else until you love yourself.
You have to be honest and open.
I'm not going to touch on loyalty and faithfulness because there are a lot of swinger couples who are very happy and long lasting, but it is important to most people.
You have to be willing to make sacrifices and compromises.
Your partner's opinion must be equally as important as yours and always considered.
Patience is a virtue.
Nothing can be one sided.
love, commitment, sacrifices, etc. Both parties have to make them.
