Well ive been hearing people saying that slipknot isnt metal and anyone that listens to it are posers. Well i think that with guitar riffs like they have and vocals that it is defenitly metal, mabey not complicated metal like amon amarth but it is still metal. And the thing about being a poser is stupid.
Do you think slipknot is metal

I think so. It's got heavy metal screaming(I think). And it's got intense metal type music. So I think so.

i love this megatron guy haha
well, i call them nu metal
so yeah perfectly metal
they aren't punk or hard rock are theydot -
Yea nu metal, i was thinking just plain metal but nu metal is a better term. People saying they are classic rock or hard rock are just plain wrong. Just one look at there costumes says it all. I love those masks they wear.
-
yep
are there really some people that call them classic rock?
wow
well maybe theyll be classic in like 20 or so years haha
when i think plain heavy metal i think sabbath, maiden, or priest, the true classics..dot -
The likes of (self-titled album) "Slipknot" and "Iowa" would be classed as Nu Metal
Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses is more Heavy Metal (in parts)
Where as All Hope Is Gone is pretty much Metal/Heavy Metal.
So who ever said that Slipknot isn't metal, is talking out of their arse!Blog: http://jamierandallphotography.wordpress.com/

I listen to Slipknot occasionally, but I'm unsure whether to call them metal or not. I can see why they would be classed as metal but I can also see why they wouldn't be. I don't really care, to be honest.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Slipknot's music does technically fall under metal and heavy metal, but some of their songs do not fall under that genre, especially their song Snuff.
The thing is that they actually sing in their songs, and it is not just screaming and shouting. So that is what makes it a bit different (alongside KoRn). -

Nu-metal with bits of alternative metal, but that's not too far from nu metal.
And
People saying they are classic rock or hard rock
People say that?
I love those masks they wear.
Fun fact, once before they went on stage (apparently) they thought they'd have a ritual where they'd vomit in their masks before wearing them, they never did it again ><
But the masks were originally because they didn't want their personalities and lifestyles to be fused with the music, they wanted the music to speak for them. It wasn't a visual gimmick to start with, but it sort of has developed into that. I also believe it was so they could walk down the street without people coming up and questioning them about the band, living a normal life, but that went out the window with numerous side projects :p
Oh and another band called mushroomhead believe that slipknot stole their idea for the masks[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] -
Yeah, Nu-Metal I'd say.
A lot of bands seem to wear masks now. Slipknot, Hollywood Undead, Mushroomhead etc.Jayden.

i dont know i think they are like a mix between like metal bordering thrash metal and nu metal, like they have amazing riffs that would class them as metal but they are something different to other metal bands out there.
fun fact: the drummer was voted the best drummer of the past 25 years in a UK poll at the weekend. -
This is trash metal for me.
I don't think Slipknot is a nu metal because there are too much drums to be nu metal (to my opinion, of course). And for the ones who think this is alternative metal, listen to Evanescence and you'll know what alternative metal is... -

I would say Evanescence were gothic rock, rather than alternative metal.Jayden.
