I could say this about most tablets, actually, but especially the iPad. -
not worth it.Nerdy and i know it.

I own the new iPad and I use it mostly for leisure. The camera isn't so useful since the picture are a bit grainy and the iPad itself is too large to be carried around as a camera. The new retina display is amazing though. You could spent $500 to get a laptop that is more efficient and not under the control of Apple (they have to approve every app, unless you jailbreak it).

$849.99 for a tablet? No thank you!

I'd rather spend £450+ on my computer which is way better than the iPad and I can increase its storage + more when I want... Oh wait I did. Awesome. -
I got my computer for $500. This was over two years ago, and it's still pretty good overall, and definitely a way better investment than an iPad would be. Only issue I even have is my video card fan being loud sometimes and the video card itself being hot all the time now, but I think I can fix that anyway.

If you have the money; yes it's worth it.
It's very portable and the battery on mine lasts between 10-15 hours of usage depending what I'm doing.
I have the new iPad and the screen on it is amazing, so it's great for films. If you're not really interested in a high quality screen, you could consider the iPad 2 - or possibly, the original iPad. -
Or possibly a PC for the same price, with much more power and flexibility.
-
The retina display is awesome and all, but then it turns yellow, simpsons it is.
-
If you're wanting it purely for the mobility like I did, I got myself a Netbook.
I know they're not everyone's cup of tea but I LOVE mine, especially for work and Uni.
But iPads in general, over-priced and over-rated. -
If I'd be able to use Pages and Numbers for my work at a minimal price I would buy one in a heartbeat. But I'm actually not sure how useable those apps are, and I don't feel like paying the large pricetag to figure it out.

Too overpriced, spend 100 dollars more and you can get yourself a really fast computer that can run almost anything

Im just a poor boy i need no sympathy.

Easy come, easy go.

Take it into an Apple store for a free replacement. - Just walk in and it won't take longer than 10 minutes if they're not too busy.
Anyway, that's not ALL iPads, it's not even the majority.
I didn't give you rep by the way, I just wanted to reply to this. -
If I want to keep going back to the store for replacements I might as well get something cheaper
-
I would imagine that issue is rare though? None of my friends have any discoloration in their screens. So if that's your own qualm it seems like a small one.
