Broken Glass

    • Broken Glass

In the remnants of of the broken glass

you see a shadow staring back

      The face you cannot recognize

but in the dark it solemly lies

On the floor in jagged parts

      with memories of broken hearts

You swear you’ve seen this face before

Still you walk away and*shut the door

Close your eyes fast and tight.

So you can sleep another night

You fear the truth of the past

      hiding in the shattered glass

The hurt, the sad still sore, unhealed

has now become what you most feared.

The loss of innocence most dear,

an ultimatum you need to hear

The pain, the lies have come undone

      leaving you a lonley one.

It makes me stop, it makes me scream to

think this mirror is showing me.
