So I've applied to over twelve jobs and I finally got a call for an arranged interview at Pacsun. So around thirty minutes after that call the same bitch calls back and says she just read on the application that I'm 16 so she has to cancel the interview because they don't want to hire anyone under 18. Like what bitch, did you not read my application BEFORE arranging the interview? What pisses me off so much is that I went in-store and the manager introduced himself, went through my application, said I didn't need any experience and they hired at 16+. So they just now changed the age-requirement. Now how fucking stupid is that?
How F-cked up is this?

But your probably better off not that job anyway.

They probably do hire 16+ but prefer not to because they don't want someone who has to be limited by their hours/breaks.

I thought they didn't discriminate against age in America. Anyway, maybe go see the manager again and let him/her know about the situation, but ask for a trial run and see if your work ethic might sway their decision in employing someone of your youth?

They aren't technically supposed to... but it's understandable, since at 16 you're still in school and will be for a while yet, so you're limited to what hours you can do. At 18 you're either out of school or will be soon and have much more availability.
Besides, the position they're hiring for might be a morning position-- they probably skimmed your resume, thought you sound awesome, but realized you're in school and unable to do the morning shift they need covered. -
Yeah I argee with what everyone else is saying, I think they do hire at 16 and up but I think they prefer to hire someone who's 18 and is in college or something. Because at 16 you are still in school so they would have to work around you with that. Just go into the store and talk to the manager and ask her what the deal is

It doesn't matter though. If they didn't mention the age restriction on the job description, it's against the law to not recruit due the age, especially when you're 16, well, unless the job includes selling the alcohol or tobacco products.Check out my music @ soundcloud.com/150Hz

Ahhh but what OP has conveniently left out is what hours the job entails. If it's a morning job, it's totally reasonable, since OP only has two free mornings/week to work.

That doesn't mean they have to hire those under 16.

Sorry that happened to you. They probably just didn't notice until after they made the first call.Signature removed by staff. You must have 50 posts in order to provide a link in your signature.

OP is still a minor, meaning they require a lot more from the employer than an 18+ year old would.
If I was an employer, although under 18s are cheaper; I'd rather not have them when I'd need to hire yet another person to cover the hours they can't do (when I could just hire someone over the age of 18 and not require anyone else) and make sure that I had enough people working at a certain time to ensure that I don't breach their break and hour specifications.
