How do you face sexual thoughts and horniness as a Christian?

    • My mother is a pretty strong born again Christian (whatever that means) and tries to raise us with "with Christian values" (whatever that means) and I definitely am a Christian (whatever that means ... and fwiw I COULD explain it, and the other stuff, but it's complicated and would likely just bore you). And so once I was actually conflicted about it and went without bating for a month primarily for trying to "be a better Christian" (whatever that means). After a month I discovered a number of things. 1. I'm pretty stubborn and devoted when I want to be. 2. It is possible to go a long time without nutting. 3. After 30 days of no nutting I can shoot ropes and shoot them for days. 4. I didn't feel "closer to God" during my month of abstaining. 5. Probably some other stuff too, but basically I learned a lot but mostly I learned that it honestly probably doesn't matter to anyone else if I jack off or not and that includes God so I might as well jack off if I want to. Or don't if I don't want to. But make the choice for myself.

    • christianity is for idiots, and since im not an idiot i can't answer this accurately

however as a former idiot, even when i was a christian i didnt really feel guilty for my thoughts and orgasms. everybody does it, and even if its a sin, we all sin so what

dont hurt yourself trying to stop masturbating. god doesnt care
    • I wouldn't go so far as to say Christianity is for idiots but I will say that when I first started masturbating, as a Catholic, I had some guilty feelings but quickly got over that. We aren't practicing Catholics by any means and the Catholic Church is obviously full of its own issues, which I find as very much "rules for thee are not for me" ... sort of like our wonderful Government "leaders" ... if you can call those idiots leaders. I guess my point is, wank away. You aren't hurting anyone or anything, it releases tension, feels fucking amazing, and when you don't have a partner to make love with, self love is definitely the answer. Bottom line ... you do you! Priests and Ministers need not know, and trust me ... I bet they are doing it as well.
    • I don't think God is really concerned about issues that don't affect anyone. If you go to the playground and whip out your dick in front of a bunch of little kids and start beating it off and traumatizing them.... I am sure He would not like that. But lying on your bed at home in your own room have a good jerk off session, hurting no one, I really doubt that he cares much about that.

Same with sex. Two people that are old enough to make decisions and understand those decisions, hurts no one and God probably doesn't have time or energy to care. Pressuring someone to have sex with you, that would be an issue for Him.

      Just my view.
    • Ok, here's the real Christian answer (I'm a born-again Christian and do my best to follow the Bible, knowing that I can't follow it perfectly because only God is perfect, hence Jesus): I get horny, sure. 99.9% of us do. Those feelings were designed by God to carry out His very first commandment -- "Be fruitful and multiply." It's the one command we've had no trouble following over the years (though now, with birth control and mass abortion, we're not even doing THAT one anymore). But we are not mere animals. Man is called to "leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and they shall be one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate." This means sexual activity in humans, unlike animlas, is designed as a beautiful gift exchanged between husband and wife, who are joined by God in a special, unique union.

When I get horny, yes, I masturbate sometimes. The Bible doesn't speak to masturbation. It does say lust is a sin; that's when you look at someone with a strong selfish desire to have them for yourself, rather than a selfless desire to serve and care for them (love). So looking at porn, or non-pornographic nude images that you sexualize in your mind, while masturbating is a sin. Do I do that when I masturbate? Usually yes, I admit. Again, I'm FAR from perfect. I could masturbate without viewing or imagining anything in a lustful way and I would be fine, but since I "need" a visual stimulus these days, for my and my future wife's sake I should really probably lay off masturbation completely. But what has actually managed to keep me from seeking sex outside marriage is that wonderful picture I mentioned earlier, from God's first commandment. I don't want to cheapen the holy union God designed sex for, or more importantly, sin against my Maker and Redeemer, by sleeping around randomly beforehand. So i just keep that picture in mind.

Sorry for the long-winded answer, but that's the truth. And I should add that it's not my place to judge those of you who have had sex outside marriage. I'm only called to say it's wrong, show you the better way, and love you. So, much love to you all!

you don't have to be rude.
i mean how else would you describe an illogical belief? is that supposed to be smart? a difference of opinion? can you have a difference of opinion about a fact like that? anyways, as a christian, shouldn't you be turning the other cheek?

      Who hurt you?

There are plenty of ways you can disagree with people without being an asshole.

is God really perfect? Before Jesus (the old testament) God was a lot of killing and punishment to people, after Jesus (New testament) was more loving and understanding. Does that not mean he grew as a person (or whatever you class God as)

And as humans were made in his image, should they not have as equal perfection. And not make mistakes (that could also be seen as being God being imperfect, as they didn't go as was expected) how can you make a world with mistakes, that in many ways is being destroyed, and say that a failure is perfect?

Basically no one is perfect, and we should try our best for ourselves and others, and learn from mistakes. It's an opinion if masturbating is a problem or not, but as we mature we learn to deal with our bodies, emotions and how they can relate to others
