    • What will we be laughing at in 20 years time?

I love to look at pictures of the 80s and 90s to laugh at some of the fashions and hairstyles. So what do you guys think we'll be laughing at in 20 years time, thinking 'how on earth could I leave the house wearing that'?

Here mentioned are the styles and clothing we think will be laughed at in the future, feel free to continue discussing them:
      Leggings with a normal shirt
      Footless tights
      Footless tights with trainer socks
      Prom dresses with trainers
      Some styles of Denim
      The Emo/Scene thing
      Nu Rave
      Uggs

Midas is king and he holds me so tight
And turns me to gold in the sunlight
      - Florence + The Machine, Rabbit Heart

I'm not a misanthrope, but I can utterly empathise with them.

I can see footless tights as being something to be laughed at ... I still think they're weird, especially when people wear trainer socks with them.

i agree with that. arent they basically thinner leggings? lol
i also hated the phase when everyone started wearing prom dresses with trainers (i.e lily allen)

Yeah, that was rather ridiculous. Prom stlye dresses shouldn't be mixed with trainers, it just doesn't look right.

Nothing, as long as I continue to wear the same clothes the fashion will remain :p

But seriously, in 20 years I think style will change so much, its very hard to tell, i doubt something like jeans will go out of fashion, but maybe the style of shoes will and t-shirts etc..
    • Re: What will we be laughing at in 20 years time?

No, denim I agree is quite stable but the styles of jeans etc. we may laugh at. Like all of that denim people wore in the 90s ... you could never get away from it :p

HAHA yes, well considering a lot of people laugh at the whole emo/scene thing it'll definitely be something to be laughed at in 20 years time :p We should compile a list in the first post :)

Haha, I see Uggs everywhere! I think EVERY girl at my 6th form owns a pair and that would not be an over exaggeration either :p

I know it's crazy :p What's even more ridiculous is people buying real Uggs :p

I started a list in the original post :)

i agree uggs are ugly, i have a pair (not real ones, that's disgusting) but they are SO COMFY, AND SO WARM. so i love them. they rub your toes with love.

anyway i think people will laugh at those babydoll shirts, you know the ones that made you look pregnant? they were all tight at the top then the fabric hung down your belly.

also at low waisted jeans, because the fashion of high waisted jeans are coming back in.

the whole leggings phenomenon will be laughed at, and the vests thing. i'll write more when i think of them.

You're so right! The baby doll shirts for sure, maybe the skinny jeans that every girl has a pair of (even if most of them shouldn't XD). I doubt people will be laughing at the scarf trend, I myself love it, bit it probably won't be laughed at because it's "back in style" for the second time or so.
Baby Doll Tops for sure, but I don't think they'll laugh at the low waisted jeans, they're kind of... generic. Plus, high waisted jeans don't look good on everyone, especially tall people.
What about the style with the vest-y things that go around you neck and then around your waist? Those are kind... weird.
I agree with Nu Rave though XD Leggings as well, when they first came into style I couldn't stop laughing.
      xD

Oh, another idea, the guys (some girls) that wear the brightly colored jeans.
      Ug.
