Anyone else having this problem in the USA? I recently moved to New Hampshire to get away from home on my gap year, but was having serious trouble finding a job. McDonalds for chrissakes did not even hire me after having a huge sign out front for weeks saying they are looking for help.

I eventually returned home and got a job at my local Stop N' Shop, but still... Is it just me or is the way the economy is now ruining all hopes of getting a decent job?

It's not like I don't have qualifications, for the work I'm looking for (anything requiring a high school degree at most) I've had numerous jobs in the past similar (before the economy went sour), but now after being laid off my last job I'm struggling to find anything nearly as good.

Any similar stories, or advice? I'm going to college, so that's not a problem... But still, finding that extra $$ to boost my college fund is nearly impossible.
