The Wreck [Poem]

    • The Wreck [Poem]

Please read and rate - and before you ask, it's not about rape - loads of people think it is! It's about my inner struggle and the scars from the past opening up.

      [[The Wreck]]

Resting upon a bed of lies
      Surrounded by a stinging suffocation
      She sadly groans
      As life penetrates her

      Wretched and wrecked
      The corpses lie half-buried
      In the sand
Gashed and bruised by the storm

She stirs from her place of peace
It lifts her from the floor
      In a flurry of haste
And the gentle tug of a current

      Violently she struggles to
Free herself from its slippery grasp
      Success lies far off
As it flings her away and above

      The first breath of life
The suffocation is freed as she
      Settles herself once more
Overlooking her past, present and future

      Exposed and forlorn
The gulls’ shrill cry of pain
Is mimicked in the slashes the wind
Brings to her tired and taunted soul

The evening sun bathes her in gold
      Yet she remains once more
      And forever
      Lonely and cold
