It's a form of exercise which focuses on toning and improving flexibility, (it isn't good if you want to lose weight).
I go to lessons every other day.
I wouldn't recommend Pilates to those looking to lose weight. It's just not physically demanding enough to burn off the needed calories.
Though if losing weight isn't your goal, I'd suggest taking a few classes. It'll keep you active for the most part, and most participants seem to enjoy it.
pilates was actually designed for dancers and athletes who have hurt themselves so they can stay in shape while getting back on their game. it's a GREAT work out as far as im concerned. if you get the right teacher, it really shows you how your body works and the best way to tone your body. i also find the movements a lot more enjoyable than just a simple work out.
