How can i lose muscle yet retain my strength? I just started mixel martial art and i need to continue working out. However im starting to be too big for my height.
Plus, the effort and time it would have taken to get to a size anyone could define as too big, is so great you cant possibly have stumbled their accidently, and would have had plenty of time to stop training. You dont just suddenly wake up huge and go, feck im too big, gotta loose some muscle. (not that ny1 in their right mind would say that anyway.)
SO in the very likely chance that your not too big but bigger than you personally would like to be, it would be quite a nuisnace to maintain strength while loosing muscle mass, if you strength train you wont gain as much muscle but you will gain some so you arent going to get smaller, imo, just sod it and just stop lifting and do more cardio, when the muscle drops a bit, do some strength training and build your strength back up.
Unless someone has a ninja trick, this is just my DIY fix it that i made up on the spot, theres probably a better way but id imagine my way would work.
Well i got a size complex which means i don't define very well what's too big or not. I was told by a girl in my class im starting to be scary. all my friends in the gym ask me to stop working out...
Yah dude being buff is awesome almost everybody thinks you can knock them out with one punch. But I would say you don't need to lose muscle but you could start losing a little bit of body fat cause your probably do have some. So I would just do more cardio than working out.
Oh and I learned from one of my coaches that if you do more and lighter reps while lifting weight that will get you stronger but you won't get as much mass as more weight-less reps.
You're either a troll or an idiot. And if the former, then both. But I'm 100% sure that you're not "too buff".

Haha if your honestly trying to lose muscle mass then stop working out for a period of time and let your body rest then start to do lower weights and higher reps which will increase strength and Tone rather than Bulk. I can see how being to big for MMA would be a hasle i personally do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
