In recent years there has been plenty of lobbying against racism and sexism in the workplace.
I'm wondering is anyone going to get round to noticing that there is also ageism in the workplace.
Minimum Wage. (For the UK - Perhaps not exact figures, but just to give you an idea)
16-18 years - £4.25 per hour
18+ years - £5.35 per hour
I used to work in a Sports Shop, I was part of a team that worked behind the scenes doing stockroom donkeywork. The team were all in aged in their 20s, barring me. I thought it was bullshit I was getting paid less than them despite the fact I was doing the same shift, the same work and at the same pace, perhaps faster. Based on the sole fact that I am younger than they are?
Meh, maybe it was just that particular company.
Although I have to say, alot of young people are treat like shit in the workplace imo. We must be an easy target having less life-experience and less education (although the latter can only be said for our colleagues who have been through any further education).
